Connie and I traveled to Chennai India during Spring Break 2007. I taught at the Prassad Film Studio and Academy for four days. I found Tamilwood to be amazing and even silly. One building had the latest in computer graphics hardware and software, while outside they were building sets with hand tools. THe trafiic was scary, seeing processions for the dead in the street with open caskets was most interesting. The most interesting part of the trip were our visits to the silk hand weavers and the silk dyers north of Chennai. I painted with cheap grammer school water colors. I struggled to get any depth or saturation with my colors.
